Davide Biganzoli

Davide Biganzoli is a bioinformatician whose expertise spans genomics, applied statistics, machine learning, epidemiology, microbiology and clinical data management — a combination that allows him to approach complex projects from multiple angles.

In the LETE laboratory, he works on the analysis of sequencing and exposomic data, the development of reproducible pipelines, and statistical support for ongoing projects. His ability to switch effortlessly from a tangled R script to multi-omics datasets — while staying calm — is one of his most valuable contributions.

He has worked in diverse environments — hospitals, universities, clinical centers and research labs — which has given him a broad and versatile perspective on bioinformatics. From COVID-19 studies to functional genomics, from clinical risk prediction to the development of REDCap databases, Davide has accumulated experiences that have shaped a rare and highly useful cross-disciplinary skill set.

That said, he maintains one characteristic that makes him instantly recognizable: he is a perfectionist. He will reread code, reports and analyses until he convinces himself that “maybe something can still be improved.” His self-ironic sense of humor only partially hides a strong scientific curiosity and a sensitivity he prefers not to put too much on display.
Those who work with him know that behind every joke about “impostor syndrome” lies solid professionalism — and results that speak clearly.

Outside the lab, Davide moves effortlessly among very different passions: he is a certified sailing coach, an indefatigable sports enthusiast, a devoted reader of The Lord of the Rings, a lover of cats (not “for culinary purposes,” he likes to clarify), and an avid music listener — a topic he has even spent years writing about.

Overall, he brings to the group a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail and humanity that makes him a reliable, insightful and — yes — undeniably perfectionist presence. But in science, that is hardly a flaw.
