Wet Lab
Rachele Matsagani has an academic background that bridges Medical Biotechnology and Neuroscience, to which she later added a growing passion for the environment and for understanding how exposures influence health. She now explores these themes in her PhD in Environmental Sciences, where she works at the intersection of molecular biology, ecology and exposure analysis.
In the lab, she brings a rigorous, organized and problem-solving–oriented approach, no longer held hostage by the perfectionism she eventually decided to let go of entirely. She handles experimental activities, project management and procedural coordination, helping keep the workflow clear, efficient and—quite surprisingly—serene. And this serenity comes with an unmistakable laugh: once it starts, you can hear it from miles away, and it brightens the lab’s mood faster than an experiment that works on the first try.
Lately, she has developed a certain affinity for the plant world. In her attempts to extract plant microRNAs, it’s not unusual to spot her wandering through Milan’s parks with focused determination, collecting and dissecting leaves of every kind.
Those who know her well discover someone reliable, helpful and genuinely fun, always ready to lend a hand—whether it’s for a technical issue, a movie recommendation or planning the next trip to Greece.
After graduating in Medical Biotechnology and Neuroscience, she developed a suddenpassion for environmentalism. Unsure of her next steps, she found her niche as the ELISA expert in Valentina’s lab, further expanding her expertise to encompass various other techniques and methodologies. Like her first mentor, Paola, she is precise, organized, and serious—she left perfectionism behind some time ago, for better or worse. But fear not, if you get to know her a bit more, she turns out to be quite pleasant and is always available to lend a hand, whether it’s work-related matters, suggesting movie picks, or planning trips to Greece.
